We are happy to announce that the deadline for invited talks for 2024 International Sherwood Fusion Theory Conference website has been extended to Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:59 PM MST! The main web page for Sherwood 2024 is available here.

Abstract submission

The abstract submission portal is now open until Friday, April 5, 2024 for invited talks and Friday, April 12, 2024 for posters. We will be soliciting submissions on the following topics:

· Plasma equilibrium, stability, and transport

· Physics of the plasma edge and divertor region, including plasma surface interactions

· Plasma production, fueling, heating, and current drive

· Analytic and computational methods for modeling plasmas

· Integrated modeling of fusion plasmas

A limited number of submissions will be selected as invited and plenary talks, with other submissions to be presented in poster sessions.

Whitewater rafting excursion

There is an optional whitewater rafting excursion on Sunday, May 5, 2024. The Alberton Gorge is one of Montana’s most beautiful river canyons with spectacular canyon scenery. Montana River Guides will pick everyone up at the Holiday Inn Parkside in Missoula at 9am. It’s about a 30 minute ride to the Alberton Gorge. We’ll get geared up there. Montana River Guides will provide all transportation, guides and river gear (including wetsuits, splash jackets and booties if needed). No experience necessary for this adventure. Guides will provide instruction and a safety briefing before the trip. The trip lasts 4-5 hours with a stop along the way for a delicious riverside lunch. Participants will be dropped off at the Holiday Inn Downtown after the trip is done. The cost per person for the Sherwood 2024 raft excursion is $95 and can be booked here.

Hotel deadline fast approaching!

The 2024 Sherwood will be held at the Holiday Inn Downtown Missoula. A room block is available at the conference rate of $179/night plus tax and fees, using the booking code SFT for the 2024 Sherwood Fusion Theory Conference. Rooms can be booked directly online (put in the dates and the conference rate will be an option) or Sherwood attendees can contact the hotel at (406) 721-8550. If you require the government rate, please contact Jayne Albrecht directly at the hotel 406-532-2059 to make a reservation The deadline for reserving rooms is April 12, 2024.
